how long is corporate worship?
A typical service lasts about an hour, sometimes just a little longer. We begin with a call and response connected to the day's Scripture, followed by music with lyrics projected on the screens so everyone can sing along. The pastor then shares a Jesus-centered sermon, followed by a Children's Time, before opening the microphone for community announcements and prayer requests. Services are intentionally laid back, with the content and flow varying from week to week.
About every fourth week, we practice what we call multi-vocal community by creating space for anyone who wishes to share how they have experienced, wrestled with, or responded to God throughout the previous week. No one is ever pressured to speak, but we believe the Spirit speaks through the whole body, and that we are formed as we listen to one another.

what's it like at summit street?
We continue to experiment with new, life-giving ways of worshiping together that make sense for a neighborhood church—forming disciples of Jesus while cultivating an outward-facing community rooted in the life of our neighborhood. Sundays at Summit Street are very casual and relaxed. So, you can wear whatever is comfortable. Bring your coffee mug because there is coffee. Come as you are. We believe that our Large Gatherings are spaces where God becomes real as we are present with one another. Whether you’re a believer, non-believer, someone with questions, or anyone in between, you are welcome here!
What about the kids?
We are all about them! In fact, for the size of our Large Table, the number of children is very large. Kids typically stay with us in the large meeting area on Sunday mornings. In fact, we work to consistently get them involved in the service. We have a special activity bag with some fun things they can do during the service if necessary and a vibrant Sunday School directly following the service. We seek to be a community that fosters the belonging where belief can be fostered. As such, our kids' program is intentionally slow so that we can foster relationships.
We understand that children make noise, get the wiggles, and may need to move around. That’s all OK at Summit Street! We encourage you to sit wherever you’re comfortable, explain to children what’s going on, participate as you'd like. You can always step out and come back if your children (or you) need a break.
